DB Exporter allows you to export data from MS Access or SQL Server databases to a choice of file formats.Exporting you data is easy with DB Exporter. It takes just four steps to export whatever data you need. The four steps are:
Choose a source file. In step 1, you choose a database to export from, and any additional details such as a password.
Choose your fields. In step 2, you choose what fields you want to export, and from which table.
Choose a export file. In step 3, you choose a file format to export your data to.
Export. In step 4, your data will be exported to the file format which was chosen.The two types of source files that you can use are MS Access, and MS SQL Server. If selecting an MS Access file, you can use the browse button to look for the .mdb file. You also have the option of entering a password to gain access to the file if it is password protected. If selecting MS SQL Server, you will need to enter the server address, which could be an IP address or a host name, also, a database name, and username is required. A password can also be entered if one is used on the database.When choosing the fields that you want to export, you get a choice of 3 modes. The mode you choose should be determined by the data you require, and the skills that you have:
Select Field Mode - This mode is the simplest, you select a table, and then a number of fields from that table. The current version of DB Exporter only allows you to choose fields from one table at a time using this mode.Beginner
Stored Procedure/Query Mode - This mode is more advanced, which lets you choose an existing Stored Procedure(MS SQL) or Query (MS Excel). This mode also has its limitations however, because the current version of DB Exporter does not handle "Parameters".Intermediate
Custom SQL Mode - This mode is the most flexible. You can select any fields you want from any tables. This mode requires you to understand how to write SQL however.AdvancedWhen choosing an export file format, you can choose CSV (Comma Separated Values) file format. This format will export each record on one line in a file, with all of the fields separated by a comma (,). Exporting data to this format is useful because many other applications allow you to import data from CSV files. Choosing this export format only requires you to choose a Export Path, and a filename to export to.You can also choose to export to a MS Excel file format. Choosing this export file format will insert the field names on the first row in the excel file so that you know what each of the columns are. You are required to choose a Export Path, a filename, and a Worksheet name.
